Tag management takes place where you already work with your images: in the WordPress media library. In list view, a single click on the tag column is enough to assign or remove tags. The quick tags feature displays all existing tags as clickable pills — one click adds, another click removes. The autocomplete function prevents typos and ensures consistent tag structures. In the media modal (grid view), tagging works via the side panel, so you can assign tags while browsing your images.
A dropdown filter in the media library allows you to filter all media by a specific tag. This way, even in media libraries with thousands of files, you'll find exactly the images you're looking for in seconds.
Shortcode with full control over layout and display
The [media_gallery]-Shortcode offers over 12 parameters with which every gallery can be adapted precisely to the respective requirements. In addition to the selection of individual or multiple tags (with OR or AND linking), two layout modes are available: a classic CSS grid with up to eight columns and a masonry layout for images with different aspect ratios. Sorting by date, title, menu order or random, configurable image sizes (thumbnail, medium, large, full), controllable spacing, lightbox options and additional CSS classes provide maximum design freedom — without having to write a single line of code.

Performance-optimized for websites of any size
Media Tags Intelligence was developed with performance in mind. Gallery results are cached in the WordPress transient cache for 24 hours. As soon as an image is uploaded, edited, deleted, or a tag is changed, the plugin automatically invalidates the cache. With random sorting (orderby="rand"), caching is deliberately not used to deliver different results on each page load.
The plugin consists of a single PHP file without external dependencies. CSS is registered as minimal inline style and only loaded when a gallery shortcode is actually present on the page. JavaScript is included exclusively in the admin area. The result: virtually no measurable performance impact on your website's frontend.

This drastically reduces tagging effort once again — especially for bulk uploads or when multiple team members upload images.
Additionally, the plugin will automatically generate SEO-relevant metadata for your galleries: alt tags, title attributes, and structured data are created based on the assigned media tags. This significantly improves the indexing of your images in Google Image Search — without you having to manually write SEO text for each image. Combined with the dynamic gallery approach, where content is always up to date, an image SEO strategy emerges that essentially maintains itself.
