Create / make WordPress Backup easily & for free | manually or automatically
There are countless solutions, but most of them are unreliable, too complicated, cost extra money, or are not compatible with the current web hosting and therefore do not create a complete backup of the installation.
The most important thing for a complete WordPress backup is:
- To have a database backup of ALL tables (preferably as one file)
- To reliably and completely back up system files, plugin files, and theme files
- To back up the /wp-content/uploads/ directory
Depending on the size of the website or webshop, everything can be created in one backup.
Our recommendation:
- Daily database backup
- Weekly file backup
- Monthly /uploads folder backup
Important: The backup should be located outside the WordPress installation or even stored on another server or cloud service.
Many WordPress hosting providers automatically create server-side backups. However, there is no guarantee of completeness, and restoring the data is often not that easy. As an operator of a website or online shop, you should never rely entirely on external solutions.
